A Qualitative Study on Middle School Students' Views on Career

Bu çalışmada ortaokul öğrencilerinin kariyerlerine ilişkin görüşlerinin incelenmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Bu bağlamda öğrencilerin ilerideki kariyerleri ile ilgili kaygı ve korkuları, meslekleri tanımak için neler yaptıkları, meslek sahibi olmanın önemine ilişkin düşünceleri ve meslek seçerken nelere dikkat ettiklerine ilişkin görüşleri incelenmiştir. alınmış. Çalışma, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden biri olan olgubilim deseni kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2022-2023 eğitim öğretim yılında Batman ilinde bulunan bir ortaokulun 7. ve 8. sınıflarında öğrenim gören 18 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. 10 (%55,6) kız ve 8 (%44,4) erkekten oluşan çalışma grubunu belirlemek için uygun örnekleme yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Katılımcılardan veri toplamak için; dört açık uçlu sorudan oluşan yarı yapılandırılmış bir form hazırlanmıştır. Ortaokul öğrencilerinden elde edilen veriler içerik analizi kullanılarak değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda ortaokul öğrencilerinin ilerideki kariyerleri, yükseköğretim sınavları ve yüksek kurumlarla ilgili daha fazla korku ve kaygı yaşadıkları görülmüştür. Öğrencilerin meslekleri tanımak için bir kişiyle doğrudan görüşerek bilgi edinmeye çalıştıkları belirlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin meslek sahibi olmanın önemine ilişkin düşüncelerini çoğunlukla ekonomik nedenlerle açıkladıkları belirlenmiştir. Araştırmanın bir diğer sonucu da ortaokul öğrencilerinin meslek seçerken ilgi alanlarına, kişilik özelliklerine ve yeteneklerine dikkat ettikleridir. Examination of Parents Opinions on the Career Expectations of Their Children

Career, is the progress and experience of an individual in any business field in his working life. In addition, it is the point that the individual wants to reach in his business life and the effort he puts forward to reach this point. Career planning is a roadmap for this point to be reached. The aim of this research is to determine the views of parents about their children's life careers. In this study, qualitative research technique was used. The situation analysis method was used for the research. Volunteer parents of primary school students participated in the study. The study group of the research consists of 20 parents. 10 of these parents are female and 10 are male. Semi-structured interview form technique was used to collect the research data. The data obtained as a result of the interviews were analyzed with the content analysis technique. While interpreting the data, themes were obtained. Categories related to each theme were created. In the results obtained from the content analysis of the data obtained from the semi-structured interview form applied in the research, there are four issues related to the expectations of the parents from the life career of the children, the duties of the parents while fulfilling the expectations from the life career of the children, the differences between the career plans of the parents and the career plans of the children, and the elimination of the differences between the career plans of the parents and the career plans of the children. Theme has been determined. Categories related to these themes were created. As a result, it has been seen that the expectations of the parents in the career planning of their children are in the form of a happy and successful, quality life. The findings obtained as a result of the research were discussed within the framework of the literature and suggestions were presented regarding the results.

Secondary Students' Perception of Violence

Violence is a phenomenon that negatively affects the lives of societies. The subject of most studies conducted in Turkey and in the world is the existence and negativity of violence. It is important to investigate the causes of an issue that is so uncomfortable for societies and to eliminate the phenomenon of violence. Although there are many definitions of violence, there are many reasons for its emergence. The difficulties of the lives people live, psychological reasons, being directed by the environment, etc. Violence is seen in our school environments as well as in every area we live in. Violence seen at all levels of education has increased in recent years. This situation has become quite disturbing. Violence and perceptions of violence also vary. Violence tendencies also differ according to violence perception levels. The presence of physical violence is mostly mentioned as the perception of violence. There is no mention of the existence of emotional and economic violence.

With this study, which deals with the phenomenon of violence, it is aimed to investigate the phenomenon of violence among secondary school students studying in Çumra district of Konya province and to measure the violence tendency levels. Violence Tendency Scale was applied to 375 students among 4160 students studying in the 2021-2022 academic year. As a result of the research, it was determined that there is a significant relationship between the students' violence tendencies in terms of gender, class levels and having close friends of the opposite sex. At the same time, it has been observed that there is no relationship between violence tendencies and whether parents live together or separately.

High School Student's Code of Career Choices

The aim of this study is to determine the students' views on coping ways in choosing a career, according to the opinions of high school students. In this study, qualitative research technique was used. Purposive sampling method was used for the research. 11th and 12th grade high school students participated in the research. The study group of the research consists of 20 high school students. Of these students, 13 (65%) are female and 7 (35%) are male. As a student, the years of education vary between 11-12 years. Semi-structured interview technique was used as the data collection method in collecting the research data. The data obtained at the end of the interview were analyzed with the content analysis technique. While interpreting the data, themes were identified and categories related to each theme were created.

In the results obtained from the content analysis of the data obtained from the semi-structured interview form applied in the research, six themes were identified related to career planning, goal setting, obstacles in goals, individual tasks in overcoming obstacles, the duties of the family in overcoming obstacles and the duties of the teacher in overcoming obstacles. Categories related to these themes were created.
